The Peterhof Palace is located in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Palace was founded by Peter the Great and known as the UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the city center. This great palace has several areas that is usually visited by the tourist.
The first area is, the lower gardens (Nizhny Sad). This garden have the better part of Peterhof's land area and designed in the formal style of a garden à la française of the 17th century. Stretching from east and west for at least 200 metres. The majority of Peterhof's fountains are contain here, as are several small palaces and outbuildings. Several fountains are design with the specific purpose to soaking visitors. East of the Lower Gardens lies the Alexandria Park with 19th-century Gothic Revival structures.
Near the middle of the Lower Gardens, stands the Grand Palace (Bolshoi Dvorets). These areas looks largest when we saw it from the lower gardens, but actually this area is not overly large. The Garden Palace has thirty rooms, one of the rooms is, The Chesma Hall. Decorated with twelve large paintings of the Battle of Chesma. Another room, located at the centre of the palace is the Picture Hall. In this hall, the walls are almost entirely covered by a series of 368 paintings, mostly of various dressed women, differing in appearance and even age, yet most were drawn from a single model.
The Grand Cascade is constructed for Louis XIV. At the centre of the cascade there is an artificial grotto. It currently contains a modest museum of the fountains' history. The fountains of the Grand Cascade are located below the grotto and on either side of it. Their waters flow into a semicircular pool. In the 1730s, the large Samson Fountain was placed in this pool. It showed the moment when Samson tears open the jaws of a lion, representing Russia's victory over Sweden in the Great Northern War. From the lion's mouth shoots a 20-metre-high vertical jet of water, the highest in all of Peterhof.
As I have explained above, The Peterhof Palace has three areas, and each of those areas has their own beautiful scenery which give the tourist a dazzling scenery. For known with the beautiful scenery that they offered, this Palace become one of the most visited place by the tourist when they went to Russia.
